Objective

Prepare students for academic study in English-speaking environments.

Components

Academic writing, research skills, presentation skills, and critical thinking

AELI EAP COURSE STRUCTURE

AELI’s EAP course consists of four levels (EAP 1, EAP 2, EAP 3, and EAP 4), each of which comprises 12 weeks of study at 20 classroom hours per week. Each level is divided into three modules of four weeks each; students may enter the level at the start of any of these modules and exit at the end of any, depending on their needs.

Students are advised to allow at least 15 hours per week to complete homework, project, review, and self-access activities in addition to the scheduled 20 face-to-face classroom hours per week. In other words, the course requires a full-time study commitment in line with the requirements of student visas.

Classes will run continuously except during college shutdowns which may occur from time to time, usually during the Christmas/New Year period; these will be determined well in advance. The college will also be closed during the public holidays where they fall on a weekday, as determined by the state government.
